Spinach Avocado Smoothie

Even though it is freezing outside, I have been drinking a lot more smoothies. It has become my new obsession and I love it. I can actually feel the difference as I drink them. It makes me feel so much healthier, gives me a boost of energy and clarity and they taste delicious! They are the perfect snack to have anytime and I literally do have them at any time. I’ll have a smoothie after a yoga class or make myself a smoothie bowl as a dessert at night. There’s so many different combinations that you can do with them that’s its hard to get tired of having them.

So, I love spinach! Its something that I make sure to always have stocked in my refrigerator. I will add spinach to anything that I can. From my wraps, to rice dishes to my mac and cheese. If I feel like it will go well with whatever dish I am creating, I will add in spinach. For today’s smoothie recipe its going to be one, you guessed it, with spinach!

This recipe I just created out of stuff I had in my fridge. Actually, lets rewind a bit and head back to the grocery store where it all began. I was in the frozen section and decided I needed to stop making the same smoothie that I had been making over and over again. It was time to experiment! So, I grabbed frozen avocados, frozen kale, frozen raspberries, frozen whatever and a bunch of other ingredients I normally get (aka the spinach). When I got home, I blended together some ingredients that I thought would taste good and voila my recipe was created! Problem with me is that once I create a recipe I like I keep making that same recipe over and over again. This one that I’m about to share with you is so good, that you’ll probably do the same.


Spinach Avocado Smoothie

Ingredients:

  1. Handful of Organic Spinach
  2. ½ cup of Frozen Avocado
  3. ½ of a Frozen Banana
  4. ¾ cup of Almond Milk
  5. 1 Tbsp of QI’A Original Chia, Buckwheat & Hemp Cereal
  6. Half Scoop of Vega Chocolate Protein Powder

Directions:

I like to add the almond milk into the blender cup first and then the protein powder. I do this because I hate when the protein powder gets stuck to the bottom of the blender cup and doesn’t blend in nicely with the rest of the ingredients. Then I throw in the rest of the ingredients and blend! That’s all it takes. Now you’re ready to serve it in your favourite glass and enjoy!


So, for the spinach that I use, I always get the prewashed kind. This is because I am lazy and don’t want to wash my spinach lol. I would much rather have the ingredients ready when I am, so I can just throw them in the blender and go. I also use the single serve ninja blender. I love this thing because I can portion out the correct amount without really having to measure anything which makes things go by faster. I’m all about convenience and time saving! I do now have a regular sized blender as well. I stole this from my parents… I doubt they will miss it since its been sitting in its original box for years now waiting to be used. I’m actually doing the blender a favour. Nothing wants to feel unwanted. Not even inanimate objects lol. Anyway, this blender I plan on creating soups with and that will be in future blog posts. I’m excited to share those recipes with you and more smoothie recipes!
